Dreadful..simply dreadful

I was somewhat astounded after the England Algeria game.

The sheer amount of fans that turned out at green point stadium was immense and for the team to put in such a torrid, tired, one-dimensional performance was quite utterly disgraceful.

Fans were so disgusted after the game that a few boos were ringing around the stadium. It’s something that I didn’t personally take part in, but after that performance you can see why it happened.

In all seriousness it is just about as bad I have ever seen England play, we were just completely flat and lacked passion and pace to our game.

Wayne Rooney had a poor game and seemed to sulk throughout as things weren’t going his way. I am sure if Rooney wasn’t his name he would be dropped for the next game.

After the game Rooney had a rant at the fans who had spent much of their savings to get out to South Africa and cheer him on, which was a mistake on his behalf and something he has apologised for.

Capello has also expressed how he was ‘baffled’ by the performance. Honestly? I am baffled that Capello is baffled. It’s almost like he has no plan b, varying formations or different tactics. Perhaps the pressure that the England job brings is now getting to him.

Tomorrow my pals and I start a thousand mile round trip drive to Port Elizabeth from Cape Town for the must win game against Slovenia. Meanwhile the England players will fly in via a luxury jet, chauffeured to the game and have their luggage carried for them! So please Mr Rooney and co. when the game gets underway in Port Elizabeth put in a bit more effort.

But back to the football – all that has happened is that we are now in the knockout stage of the tournament a game early. It sounds a bit better when you put it that way. So just five wins on the bounce and we will all be happy!

Come on England!

Township blog to come soon.
