The Cash Apocalyse

This week, the credit crunch seems to be sliding into full-on recession and it’s going to last until 2010.

Money people in the know are getting ever more alarmed, and one of these is Martin Lewis.

Every week he shows up on the GMTV sofa in a sliding scale of worry.

Now, Martin is, I’m sure, totally right, and his website www.moneysavingexpert.com is brilliant.

For the uninitiated, it’s all about blagging, bargains and brilliant tips, and it’s undoubtedly helpful.

However, he has been running a gamut of emotions escalating through concern, anxiety, alarm, worry, despair and out-and-out terror.

The way things are going, by Christmas he’ll be advocating filling the bath with water, stocking the cupboard with tins and never going out again.

The GMTV sofa is probably soaked by the time he leaves because he has worked himself up so much.

If ever you go out for dinner, or book a holiday, or get insurance, see moneysavingexpert.com beforehand.

But is it just me who thinks it might be ever-so-slightly exaggerated to get viewers?

I doubt the bleak statements are exaggerated bt most people will not face up to house-of-cardsness of the situation until they have spent up. For many people who have lost their jobs or cannot manage their debts that position has already arrived and they will have had to economise already; for many others the sales will bring the situation nearer as they find themselves unable to resist buying something for 50% of the price in the belief they are saving money.
A bit lie losing weight generally depends on eating less, saving depends on spending less. That is apart from that widescreen TV that I haven't got and really ned because I can get one as big as my window for £677. what a snip!
