Supermarket Cheap

Having studied supermarkets in great detail, I now feel like something of an expert.

I've braved the locust-like swarms of people towards the reduced items shelves, I've had rock-bottom (and rock-hard) bread and I've even - sob - curbed my trashy magazines habit in the name of money saving.

So what have I discovered?

Well, I've been really surprised at the difference in costs between supermarkets. In fact, I've changed my weekly supermarket.

I live in Wokingham and it's about five miles away - even with petrol costs, it's much cheaper.

The supermarket basics such as milk and bread are much of a muchness, because of price-comparison charts, but everything else has widely differing costs.

I must admit, the Waitrose in the centre of Wokingham is definitely the most convenient for me, but my trial has really opened my eyes.

I have always thought the supermarket my Mum uses, and the one I grew up with, is the cheapest (clue: it's from Yorkshire) but it was actually the most expensive.

Next, I'm going to look at cheap goods websites, so I'd love to hear about any which people use.
